to Growing Niagara um and it was a housing", "start": 1034.88, "end": 1040.6}, {"text": "Symposium housing housing is a very big issue everywhere nicra is feeling a very", "start": 1040.6, "end": 1046.88}, {"text": "real demand for affordable housing as interest rates are starting to come down", "start": 1046.88, "end": 1052.679}, {"text": "residents in Niagara are beginning to look at housing very critically can they", "start": 1052.679, "end": 1058.12}, {"text": "afford now to move to a bigger house that they need can their kids afford a a", "start": 1058.12, "end": 1064.16}, {"text": "house in the future are they going to need to leave Niagara in order to find a better paying job in order to pay for a", "start": 1064.16, "end": 1070.2}, {"text": "house that they can afford for many years Niagara region struggled under the weight of Shifting global economy and", "start": 1070.2, "end": 1077.88}, {"text": "it's hit families hard all indicators however show that Niagara Region's economic Outlook is solid and Promises", "start": 1077.88, "end": 1086.919}, {"text": "uh many good paying jobs in the very near future but will will there be homes", "start": 1086.919, "end": 1092}, {"text": "for these families when they move here um red tape and long application", "start": 1092, "end": 1099.52}, {"text": "approval times have been addressed uh as we all work together to build more homes", "start": 1099.52, "end": 1105.64}, {"text": "uh faster Nano's research is one of can as best known and respected public opinion analysts pollsters and social", "start": 1105.64, "end": 1114.159}, {"text": "research uh conducted a survey based on random phone calls of 700 residents in", "start": 1114.159, "end": 1120.679}, {"text": "the niagar region 140 three of those were from Niagara Falls 200 from St", "start": 1120.679, "end": 1126.6}, {"text": "Catherine and the balance were from the rest of the Niagara region they asked people what they thought uh particular survey cost of housing was number one it was", "start": 1139.08, "end": 1144.64}, {"text": "followed closely by inflation which affects your cost of living it affects groceries and Health Care smaller", "start": 1144.64, "end": 1152.36}, {"text": "emphasis was also given to jobs Public Safety policing and", "start": 1152.36, "end": 1158.679}, {"text": "governance 71% of those that were asked and answered the uh the questions found", "start": 1158.679, "end": 1165.44}, {"text": "that Niagara region was a great place to raise a family 69% of them felt very", "start": 1165.44, "end": 1171.36}, {"text": "very safe in their Community but 50% felt that housing in Niagara was", "start": 1171.36, "end": 1176.88}, {"text": "unaffordable to the point where some of them were looking at actually leaving the area questions were posed to a panel of", "start": 1176.88, "end": 1184}, {"text": "some of the elected officials in the Niagara area uh the first one was about", "start": 1184, "end": 1190.159}, {"text": "affordability and some of the points they brought forward with of course were high interest rates inflation and wages", "start": 1190.159, "end": 1198.799}, {"text": "weren't keeping Pace with the cost of living how do we get build homes built", "start": 1198.799, "end": 1205.559}, {"text": "faster well the first comment that was echoed by many was to cut the red and then keep in mind that development charges are there to pay for growth and infrastructure is", "start": 1217.84, "end": 1224.919}, {"text": "expensive the last item that came up was about heritage parks and natural areas these need to be", "start": 1224.919, "end": 1232.48}, {"text": "considered when you're planning your communities municipalities need to be critical about what is being now that the rates are starting to come down", "start": 1245.12, "end": 1251.159}, {"text": "the number of applications for approval throughout the region has increased there are more than 36,000", "start": 1251.159, "end": 1258.76}, {"text": "housing units unbuilt and approved in the niaga region", "start": 1258.76, "end": 1264.039}, {"text": "3,445 of those are in Grimsby while Niagara is one of North America's most popular destinations a", "start": 1264.039, "end": 1271.4}, {"text": "growing number of businesses and individuals have decided to make Niagara home all of the positive
