the years it's evolved and", "start": 354.24, "end": 360.96}, {"text": "changed and grown into what we know today in the Millennium the parade transitioned from a daytime to an", "start": 360.96, "end": 366.72}, {"text": "evening parade which is one of my favorite things about the parade this year is seeing the lights at night we", "start": 366.72, "end": 372.36}, {"text": "are now in our 67th year we had about 80 entries with 36 of those being local", "start": 372.36, "end": 378.28}, {"text": "business entries and around 40 not for-profit and Community organization groups churches and schools we estimate", "start": 378.28, "end": 386.4}, {"text": "over 15,000 people attend the parade in in person um this year much like last year", "start": 386.4, "end": 393.96}, {"text": "we had an accessible viewing area for those with disabilities to have a space to park and a comfortable viewing space", "start": 393.96, "end": 400.479}, {"text": "to watch the parade our live stream this year had 9500 views on grimsby's", "start": 400.479, "end": 406.28}, {"text": "Facebook page an additional 56,000 views on Niagra 411 and close to", "start": 406.28, "end": 413.24}, {"text": "3,000 views on our YouTube link the live stream is one of our more recent", "start": 413.24, "end": 419.039}, {"text": "Editions to the parade and year after year we receive positive feedback from those who are unable to watch the parade", "start": 419.039, "end": 425.24}, {"text": "in person or those who have moved out of Grimsby who still would like to watch the parade so we're happy to continue to", {"text": "tennis camps um dry when it rains uh it uh it houses um tennis officials when we", "start": 987.319, "end": 994}, {"text": "run these special uh tournaments however it is old and needs", that place tennis and they can beat", "start": 1061.88, "end": 1069.12}, {"text": "me we have received the um outstanding Club award from the Ontario tennis", "start": 1070.48, "end": 1076.36}, {"text": "Association in in 2014 and 2021 I won't go all through the criteria", "start": 1076.36, "end": 1083.08}, {"text": "for that but just uh suffice it to say that we're very pleased to receive this", "start": 1083.08, "end": 1089.799}, {"text": "award we are a volunteer run we rely on our volunteers we set up and take down", "start": 1090.12, "end": 1098.88}, {"text": "ourselves these are some of the volunteers in their Winter Rising day but um we can't do without the um the", "start": 1098.88, "end": 1107.24}, {"text": "volunteers that we have next next slide", "start": 1107.24, 1138.08, "end": 1143.48}, {"text": "coming back into the into the sports scene Junior programs from 5 to 18y", "start": 1143.48, "end": 1150.84}, {"text": "Old we have high performance clinics for kids who are likely to be seen on TV in", "start": 1150.84, "end": 1157.2}, {"text": "the years to come they're very very good we run leagues round Robins tournaments", "start": 1157.2, "end": 1163.76}, {"text": "socials we run otaa sanction tournaments and wheelchair tennis and I will get", "start": 1163.76, "end": 1169.72}, {"text": "into that a little bit later next slide that's just some slides", "start": 1169.72, "end": 1174.84}, {"text": "of some of the beginners at work Junior", "start": 1174.84, "end": 1182.2}, {"text": "program we have um approximately 70 kids", "start": 1183.52, "end": 1188.88}, {"text": "from 5: to 12 in the morning on Saturday mornings taking our our um program and", "start": 1188.88, "end": 1195.88}, {"text": "we have another 18 or so um 12 to 18 uh", "start": 1195.88, "end": 1201.039}, {"text": "kids on Wednesday evening our high performance um program", "start": 1201.039, "end": 1207.32}, {"text": "uh does have kids that are really very good players and should be um famous", "start": 1207.32, "end": 1215.64}, {"text": "someday soon so again uh we", "start": 1215.64, "end": 1222.44}, {"text": "leagues and next slide please I want to emphasize that on top of being", "start": 1225.32, "end": 1232.52}, {"text": "centered around our members we also feel that we are Community Based we have a", "start": 1232.52, "end": 1239.76}, {"text": "good connection with onp par tennis players we you may know we have run a", "start": 1239.76, "end": 1246.88}, {"text": "three wheelchair tennis tournament these are international tennis Federation tournaments in Grimsby and over the", "start": 1246.88, "end": 1255}, {"text": "course of the three years there there have been at least six 60 to 70 wheelchair athletes from 10 different", "start": 1255, "end": 1261.88}, {"text": "countries and they brought comments to us saying that our club was by far one", "start": 1261.88, "end": 1268.12}, {"text": "of the best clubs in hosting the wheelchair uh tournament and we did this", "start": 1268.12, "end": 1273.88}, {"text": "by the way without a clubhouse that was not wheel wheelchair accessible but", "start": 1273.88, "end": 1279.039}, {"text": "thanks to the Livingston Activity Center we we managed next", "start": 1279.039, "end": 1286.12}, {"text": "slide this is what it looked like on the on opening day last year um we have", "start": 1286.12, "end": 1293.32}, {"text": "strong support from community and um Jan coel was the main title sponsor next", "start": 1293.32, "end": 1298.88}, {"text": "slide just shows you a that were not", "start": 1321.799, "end": 1328.24}, {"text": "members that tried it and um they have become part of the wheelchair uh", "start": 1328.24, "end": 1334}, {"text": "athletes um that compete believe it or not in different countries now some of", "start": 1334, "end": 1340.96}, {"text": "them compete at the um Olympics as par Olympics", "start": 1340.96, "end": 1347.2}, {"text": "as a work of um of our committee in planning those tournaments Tannis Canada", "start": 1349.88, "end": 1357.52}, {"text": "recognized us as um uh for the for our work in the U in", "start": 1357.52, "end": 1364.159}, {"text": "the area of wheelchair tennis and so we are very happy to receive the", "start": 1364.159, "end": 1369.72}, {"text": "award one of the major events that are at our club is a Wimbledon whites which", "start": 1369.72, "end": 1375.12}, {"text": "runs around the time of Wimbledon um all uh all ladies as you see all dressed in", "start": 1375.12, "end": 1382.2}, {"text": "white and um they have their tea and everything else that goes along with it", "start": 1382.2, "end": 1389.08}, {"text": "and again being part of the community means um raising funds through for", "start": 1389.08, "end": 1395.64}, {"text": "Charities we over the past 15 years we have raised um a lot of money for", "start": 1395.64, "end": 1401.279}, {"text": "various Charities we choose each year but in the last few years um we had West", "start": 1401.279, "end": 1406.88}, {"text": "Lincoln hospital a couple of years and um the uh GBF uh for a couple of years", "start": 1406.88, "end": 1413.08}, {"text": "this past year we raised as you see almost $110,000 in", "start": 1413.08, "end": 1419.48}, {"text": "support finally um over the past 15 years 50 years the um the tennis club", "start": 1420.679, "end": 1426.799}, {"text": "has been providing providing healthy activity to citizens of all age I'm not sure if you've seen the study but tennis", "start": 1426.799, "end": 1433.76}, {"text": "is one of the sports that gives um um longevity", "start": 1433.76, "end": 1439.12}, {"text": "I think part of it is that you have to make so many decisions when you're on the on the court backand forehand lob", "start": 1439.12, "end": 1446.039}, {"text": "dropshot and um we think that this keeps us young the", "start": 1446.039, "end": 1452.84}, {"text": "um fact that we brought in a lot of uh people through the various tournaments", "start": 1452.84, "end": 1458.52}, {"text": "we run is a boost to the local economy those people that came from various countries here in Grimsby they shopped", "start": 1458.52, "end": 1465}, {"text": "here they dined here they were accommodated here so we feel we generate", "start": 1465, "end": 1470.72}, {"text": "some funds for the um Grimsby economy so I'll leave it with you we", "start": 1470.72, "end": 1478.08}, {"text": "need a new Clubhouse that's large enough to host these major events there's been", "start": 1478.08, "end": 1483.52}, {"text": "discussions with um Sarah and Mike and", "start": 1483.52, "end": 1488.72}, {"text": "we will get into that in a little while i' be happy to answer questions thank you for screens which is a fairly labor intensive um if the uh the winter was", "start": 1563.32, "end": 1570.2}, {"text": "harsh on the courts and there's some cracks or or holes we do some cocking we", "start": 1570.2, "end": 1575.279}, {"text": "do that ourselves um but volunteers also help us run leagues and tournaments and and and", "start": 1575.279, "end": 1583.559}, {"text": "all the activities that I mentioned in the slides", "start": 1583.559, "end": 1588.559}, {"text": "okay resolve that the delegation from Ron Mo regarding a general update on the Grimsby Tennis Club be pretty confident that most of you are familiar with the clubhouse I", "start": 1636.76, "end": 1642.919}, {"text": "know many of you have been there for the the wheelchair tournament tournament uh that Ron was even referring to ear", "start": 1642.919, "end": 1648.799}, {"text": "uh so it was built in 1980 it was renovated around 2010 and we are uh certainly seeing its age now uh it is an", "start": 1648.799, "end": 1656.399}, {"text": "older building it's not currently accessible as was mentioned earlier as well and we've done a lot of uh reviews", "start": 1656.399, "end": 1662.88}, {"text": "and condition assessments on the building one of the biggest challenges with the building is just the way that it's situated to even set on grades so", "start": 1662.88, "end": 1669.48}, {"text": "there is that rather substantial wooden stair case in front of it um so when we've looked at all of it in terms of", "start": 1669.48, "end": 1675.799}, {"text": "what the building needs um in the next 10 years and the condition of it currently with all of the accessibility", "start": 1675.799, "end": 1681.96}, {"text": "requirements as well um Mike did some great work to look at some different options and the option that we are", "start": 1681.96, "end": 1687.64}, {"text": "recommending to maintain a clubhouse at the tennis club is to actually uh go", "start": 1687.64, "end": 1693.08}, {"text": "towards more of a modular building uh that would be I'm going to call it a classroom but it's going to be nice in a", "start": 1693.08, "end": 1698.84}, {"text": "classroom uh would be that type of a modular building you would maybe see of a classroom but it would have washrooms", "start": 1698.84, "end": 1704.039}, {"text": "as well available to it at a ground level so they would become accessible and we would remove the existing older", "start": 1704.039, "end": 1710.559}, {"text": "building that is there um it the the plan with this new building is we'll have a clubhouse area so a main sort of", "start": 1710.559, "end": 1717.159}, {"text": "Center room and they will actually have washrooms that can be separated so it can also service other purposes like breakdown of those results um and then I'll go through our recommendations as", "start": 2355.2, "end": 2361.119}, {"text": "well so we did ask that only residents complete the survey most people followed", "start": 2361.119, "end": 2367.839}, {"text": "that um 97.6% were residents uh we choose chose not to remove the ones that", "start": 2367.839, "end": 2373.079}, {"text": "weren't CU we actually have to go through the company to have responses removed um and because there were so few", "start": 2373.079, "end": 2379}, {"text": "it didn't really sway the trends that we saw in the survey so I just thought I would mention that over 160 local postal", "start": 2379, "end": 2384.76}, {"text": "codes uh were represented and for age ranges um no big surprises here older", "start": 2384.76, "end": 2391.24}, {"text": "adults making up the the bulk but at the same time we had representation across", "start": 2391.24, "end": 2396.359}, {"text": "every single demographic um only one for 880 plus and one for 0 to 19 but we were able to get responses for", "start": 2396.359, "end": 2404.04}, {"text": "each from a current use perspective so asking uh the public you know how to use them right now the number one response", "start": 2404.04, "end": 2410.68}, {"text": "was drop in with family and friends followed by dropping in with pickle Ballers or people who play pickle", "start": 2410.68, "end": 2417.96}, {"text": "ball um grimy pickle ball Association members was next uh non-c Court users we", "start": 2418.64, "end": 2424.079}, {"text": "really pleased to see this 36 people who had never used the courts before completed the survey which was great it gives us a really valuable sense that", "start": 2424.079, "end": 2430.119}, {"text": "we're getting even more interest in how people who are approaching the sport for the first time want to engage and we also had 17 people who", "start": 2430.119, "end": 2437.04}, {"text": "indicated they're on the wait list for the pickle ball Association from a court accessibility", "start": 2437.04, "end": 2442.64}, {"text": "standpoint uh 43.9% reported frequent difficulty accessing the courts uh so definitely", "start": 2442.64, "end": 2448.88}, {"text": "something that we need to approve on there occasional 28.9% and never 27.2", "start": 2448.88, "end": 2456.599}, {"text": "uh the reason to play number one Fitness and activity uh followed by fun and enjoyment social interaction and Sport", "start": 2458.8, "end": 2464.92}, {"text": "and competition uh ease of find cour information somewhat easy 54% very easy", "start": 2464.92, "end": 2471.48}, {"text": "21 uh 25% for not easy still not where we want to be so I think we definitely", "start": 2471.48, "end": 2476.88}, {"text": "are looking at for some improvements for communication um in terms of where others play at other facilities we had", "start": 2476.88, "end": 2484.04}, {"text": "sorry um quite a bit of a mix the majority", "start": 2484.04, "end": 2489.56}, {"text": "saying they don't play at any other facility so 95 saying they don't play anywhere else other than the mayare", "start": 2489.56, "end": 2495.64}, {"text": "courts um so just some quick percentages here again these are expanded in more detail in the survey but 80% in favor of", "start": 2496.079, "end": 2502.44}, {"text": "more indoor and outdoor courts 64% wish to play twice per week or more 39% wish", "start": 2502.44, "end": 2508.599}, {"text": "to play three times per week or more uh which is very very high from a service level perspective for what we "end": 2531.72}, {"text": "gave for play preferences number one was reserving a court for a self-arranged group for a small fee followed by drop", "start": 2533.119, "end": 2540.319}, {"text": "in on a firstc come first serve basis uh third open paddle saddle a paddle saddle is a way of um determining who plays", "start": 2540.319, "end": 2547.4}, {"text": "next they put the paddles into a saddle and it determines who's on the court next so it's kind of like a group engagement uh and lastly organized", "start": 2547.4, "end": 2553.319}, {"text": "membership based Community leagues and rentals preferred scheduling model", "start": 2553.319, "end": 2561.04}, {"text": "majority drop in a combination of drop in in reservations at 42.9% additional 24% uh indicated they'd", "start": 2561.04, "end": 2568.48}, {"text": "like to see leak play Drop in only at 20% and a combination of drop in leagues", "start": 2568.48, "end": 2573.72}, {"text": "which is the current model at 133%", "start": 2573.72, "end": 2577.68}, {"text": "uh we did ask the question that if you wanted to participate in programming at the courts uh how would you like to engage with it organized registered", "start": 2580, "end": 2586.48}, {"text": "programs so that could be like a league or a 10we program 124 instructional", "start": 2586.48, "end": 2592.24}, {"text": "clinics 87 public tournaments and community events 106 family pickle events 103 other 47 uh this was a pick", "start": 2592.24, "end": 2600.4}, {"text": "three so some of these you were able to select multiple options if you're seeing numbers that are much higher than the total number of survey respondents", "start": 2600.4, "end": 2607.92}, {"text": "uh time of day preferences I believe there was the ability to to select three here again really valuable information", "start": 2607.92, "end": 2613.119}, {"text": "for us about when the courts want to be used um but again no surprises here for us uh weekday mornings weekday evenings", "start": 2613.119, "end": 2621.079}, {"text": "um and week and a.m. we were not surprised to see those as our our peak", "start": 2621.079, "end": 2627.24}, {"text": "times so I'm going to go through the recommendations that we've made um this", "start": 2628.72, "end": 2634.599}, {"text": "isn't a choose one recommendation situation uh we're asking that all four", "start": 2634.599, "end": 2640.119}, {"text": "recommendations that are included in this report U go forward uh the first being that we start fresh uh we've heard", "start": 2640.119, "end": 2646.319}, {"text": "from the survey uh I think a clear direction that the current model that we're employing at the courts isn't working um and that we move forward with", "start": 2646.319, "end": 2653.599}, {"text": "a new allocation schedule starting next year um and that would be built upon the following three priorities um so when I", "start": 2653.599, "end": 2660.16}, {"text": "say priorities I mean when we actually go to build the schedule the frequency in which you would see these things on the schedule are in this order um so", "start": 2660.16, "end": 2666.44}, {"text": "reservable 60-minute public rentals for a small fee a free public drop drop in times with a 30- minute time limit the", "start": 2666.44, "end": 2673.079}, {"text": "30- minute time limit is currently what we use for the drop in {"text": "we did include a sample formula for allocated time that's just an example when we go to do allocation when we do", "start": 2683.76, "end": 2690.319}, {"text": "for a Hockey Association or soccer association that really involves sitting down with a specific Sport and getting a", "start": 2690.319, "end": 2695.68}, {"text": "good understanding about what their needs are and coming up with an agreement about a fair allocation of time uh because every Sport's different", "start": 2695.68, "end": 2702.72}, {"text": "how many people can be on the court how do people like to engage with them um so in the event that these recommendations", "start": 2702.72, "end": 2708.559}, {"text": "move forward our next step would be to go into negotiation to decide what type of allocation current model we have at the courts is based on uh", "start": 2721.079, "end": 2727}, {"text": "full core allocation in the sense that you have um Club use on two or Association use on two public U and", "start": 2727, "end": 2734.319}, {"text": "public on two we're looking to to move away from that model and move to full blocks so potentially you could see you", "start": 2734.319, "end": 2740.28}, {"text": "know all Four Courts being dedicated for reservations and then all Four Courts being used for drop in all Four Courts", "start": 2740.28, "end": 2746}, {"text": "being used for um League or a mix of two and two um and I think what what that", "start": 2746, "end": 2752.16}, {"text": "improves is you get cons consistent scheduling and clearly defined uses what we through the survey and what we've", "start": 2752.16, "end": 2758.079}, {"text": "heard even just anecdotally is that people are really confused about when they can engage with the courts what's", "start": 2758.079, "end": 2763.68}, {"text": "on the courts which courts they can go on um if you have to pay if you have to be a member uh so we're really looking", "start": 2763.68, "end": 2769.599}, {"text": "to improve um how people can see that so we would publish a schedule essentially online and in person that says these are", "start": 2769.599, "end": 2776.559}, {"text": "the approved uses for this time period so everybody's on the same page this model also allows us to use uh um", "start": 2776.559, "end": 2784}, {"text": "improve more variety across different days and times so sometime could be prime time which is what I talked about", "start": 2784, "end": 2789.359}, {"text": "in the preferred times of day it's a mix of nonprime evening so everyone's getting a fair shake at the preferred", "start": 2789.359, "end": 2794.559}, {"text": "times to use the courts um another Improvement we'd be looking to do as part of this is an online live public", "start": 2794.559, "end": 2799.88}, {"text": "schedule this is something that we use for our outdoor Rank and for indoor rinks as well it's a 3-week live look", "start": 2799.88, "end": 2805.92}, {"text": "ahead that shows every single booking that's being done um live so if we have", "start": 2805.92, "end": 2811.559}, {"text": "maintenance or there's a tournament you can see a live schedule so you know before you go to the court you know is there a tournament event instead of", "start": 2811.559, "end": 2817.52}, {"text": "getting there and showing up and being turned away because there's something maintenance or something like that you'll actually be able to see in real", "start": 2817.52, "end": 2822.76}, {"text": "time what the schedule is I think that's just good for transparent transparency and accountability for all using the", "start": 2822.76, "end": 2829.2}, {"text": "courts our third recommendation is to look into a seasonal keyholder system uh", "start": 2829.2, "end": 2834.96}, {"text": "this is a model used in tumpy Ontario uh to some success the one uh thing we keep", "start": 2834.96, "end": 2840.72}, {"text": "hearing it's kind of a mix I I think there's a clear mandate that people want open access to these courts at the same", "start": 2840.72, "end": 2847.72}, {"text": "time what we're also hearing is that they're really beautiful courts and we want to see them kept that way and", "start": 2847.72, "end": 2852.92}, {"text": "maintained and that creates a bit of a difficulty for us because with the gates wide open we have very little control", "start": 2852.92, "end": 2858.319}, {"text": "it's an unstaffed facility about what's happening on those courts so we're looking at developing a keyholder system", "start": 2858.319, "end": 2864.319}, {"text": "this ises not have any intention to raise revenue it's simply a way of us engaging with who wants to use the", "start": 2864.319, "end": 2869.72}, {"text": "courts paying a nominal cost recovery fee for a key or a code or or whatever the system could be allows us to confirm", "start": 2869.72, "end": 2876.359}, {"text": "contact information it allows us to preserve residency so we can make sure if uh that only residents are receiving", "start": 2876.359, "end": 2883.16}, {"text": "key access allows us to um have people sign off on rules waivers code of", "start": 2883.16, "end": 2889.24}, {"text": "conduct and uh the one challenge with that model obviously is that we don't want to discourage passive users if you", "start": 2889.24, "end": 2895.16}, {"text": "want to use the courts for the first time or you're just interested in pickle ball we don't want to make it that oh you have to come and fill out an online", "start": 2895.16, "end": 2901.079}, {"text": "form and provide all this information so we would provide select times where the gate would be open so you could just", "start": 2901.079, "end": 2906.44}, {"text": "drop in and then hopefully that moves people into to more engagement later on uh if this is successful in the long", "start": 2906.44, "end": 2913.04}, {"text": "term I think we would look to Institute a digital keypass system so right now we'd have to do something that's analog", "start": 2913.04, "end": 2918.88}, {"text": "there's no servicing on site U but the benefit of that in the long term could be you know right now we ask people not", "start": 2918.88, "end": 2924.48}, {"text": "to use the courts outside of approved hours you know we say the court times are 8:00 a.m. and please be done by", "start": 2924.48, "end": 2929.88}, {"text": "Sundown but we have had situations where people are playing far too early which can impact residents I've had seen", "start": 2929.88, "end": 2935.4}, {"text": "people with high beams on and playing late at night uh so going to a key system uh allows us potentially to have", "start": 2935.4, "end": 2941.4}, {"text": "a bit more control um and get more information about the people who are using our", "start": 2941.4, "end": 2947.44}, {"text": "facilities and our last recommendation uh tournaments and events uh we have been permitting events and tournaments", "start": 2947.76, "end": 2954.4}, {"text": "throughout the courts existence since they opened uh our plan is to continue with that um I think we've heard loud", "start": 2954.4, "end": 2960.119}, {"text": "and clear that
